24/7 Church: What's it all about?....I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision. Acts 26:19 For me, it all started there on the carpet down on South Figueroa in Los Angeles. No, I wasn't accustomed to lying on the carpet in Holy Ghost meetings. Actually, I was not accustomed to Holy Ghost meetings at all. But I did listen to preachers on the radio and one of them, Johnny Chambers, invited me and all of Southern California to come to his tent revival. Something about his announcement made me want to believe I could be touched by God and know it. So I took my old car, and after mechanical problems and delays, I pulled up outside the blue and white gospel tent only to hear Brother Chambers singing "Today I Started Loving Christ Again" to the tune of an old Merle Haggard song. I said to myself, "what kind of a deal is this?" and the devil tried to get me to believe that I would not get that old car started again if I turned it off there. I started driving back home and was going down Rosecrans Blvd. not too far from where Brother Allen's last meeting had been held a few years earlier when God spoke to my heart and told me that if I kept running from Him I would never stop. I repented right then and there and turned that car around, went back to Brother Johnny's meeting and got more from God every night for a month. What does this have to do with Regional Revival of Biblical Proportions in Western Kentucky? Well, I was lying there on the carpet in Brother Chambers' meeting and got a vision of a particular city skyline I had never seen before and God was telling me I had to go there. But I didn't even know where "there" might be. The years came and the years went, I continued in what is all too often a normal Christian experience: up one time and down another with no real victory. That is, until God stopped me in the middle of the road running from Him again. This time it took a semi-truck and as I was bouncing thru the "bar ditch" on the side of I-39 just outside of Stoughton, Wisconsin, just then, I prayed the stupidest prayer: "God, I hope I've got all together." Stupid, because I knew where I had been and what I had been doing. BUT GOD HEARD MY PRAYER and saved my life one last time. When I was able to get out of Wisconsin after the accident, I headed for the Tri-State area of Western Kentucky, Indiana, and Southern Illinois thinking to find some friends of Brother Chambers but instead God brought me where he wanted me and put me together with some other brothers that helped me to become really free in Christ. This is where I was when God started drawing me toward the old Cane Ridge Meeting House near Paris, Kentucky. I also learned that the skyline I had seen in the vision was that of Cincinnati and that folks from Cleddie Keith's church in the Cincinnati area had been visiting Cane Ridge because of the revival anointing there. I did visit Cincinnati and Cane Ridge and shortly thereafter (12/31/1998) I held a Watch Night Prayer Meeting in the old MeetingHouse. The anointing was so strong it actually showed up on tape and in photographs. Upon returning to Western Kentucky, I met Pastor Fred Fisher at a Pastor's Prayer Meeting in his church and shared my vision of Regional Revival in Western Kentucky with the pastors in attendance. Family and work demands took me back to New Mexico where I held on to the vision of Area Transformation in this nation. Two years ago God brought us back to Kentucky and to the dream of Western Kentucky revival. Meanwhile, here's what God had been doing in my absence: -Had Marion & Stephanie Dalton's church in Lexington, KY, praying at Cane Ridge. -Brought revival to Victory Christian Center in Henderson for a year and a half. -Brought 16 weeks and more revival with Brother Vance Murphy to Family Worship Center, Owensboro. -Brought 24/7 prayer weeks to Fred and Latricia Fisher's church in Henderson, KY, for the past two years with individuals from more than ten different churches participating. -Brought Community revival to Henderson both at the Fishers' home church and in "neutral" territory (so as to get many different congregations involved.) -Brought forth a prophecy of Area Transforming Revival of Biblical Proportions in the triangular region bounded by but not limited to Owensboro, Henderson, and Madisonville. The past few years have been a time of transition as God moves people where He wants them for what He has in store. Rockport Pastor, Evangelist, and Food Bank operator Jeff Carter has moved his ministry to Madisonville and the food distribution center to Calhoun. God has been blessing his meetings with continuous nitely revival since January (first at White Plains, now in Madisonville.) Pastor Brian Bivins moved from independent Apostolic thru another denominational affiliation before establishing an independent prayer, praise, preaching and teaching ministry with his wife Kimberly. Pastor Jack Carter didn't know what to think when God moved in and took over Family Worship Center (Center Street Church of God) for over sixteen weeks. Now he has led his church in the acquisition of SKATES ALIVE for a worship, revival, and entertainment complex. He has made the facility open on Sunday mornings to "Church for All," a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, multi-racial trans-denominational church plant pastored by M. Garswa Matally, a Baptist minister from Liberia who has led outstanding black and white churches in Owensboro. Fred and Latricia Fisher have opened a five screen cinema as a family entertainment, prayer, worship, and outreach facility. Daniel Storrs came to Kentucky to preach at our church, went to Morganfield for a one nite meeting and was met by an outpouring of joy and restoration. And my wife, Joyce, and I, well, God has used us in feeding hundreds of local residents thru our 24/7 food pantry and has allowed us to reach thousands worldwide thru our websites. Not bad for a couple of old folks and a few friends of Jesus. I'll let you go for now. Check out what is happening and I'll have more for you soon. Bishop David Holdridge godchasersw@msn.com UPDATE: Joyce & I relocted to Fort Worth, Texas. She passed over into glory June 12, 2006. I need your prayers & support as I try to establish a 24/7 center of prayer, praise, worship, & service to the community here. We believe that this type of ministry can be a catalyst to true revival in this region. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
